How To Store A Truck Camper

  • #two

Nosotros have a 1999 Bigfoot C25 ten.half dozen, so it's a large camper. We set down four stacks of cinder blocks, ane near each corner. Each stack is made from 3 blocks, 2 on the bottom, and then the 3rd block running crosswise to the other two. Nosotros place a couple ii"x8" across the stacks, one beyond the front of the camper, and a second across the dorsum. We set the camper down on that. Nosotros keep the jacks lowered touching the ground, only without having them comport much weight. That arrangement seems to piece of work fine.

We've tried diverse covers over the years. The Adco covers are OK, but the problem nosotros have is they seldom last much by their warranty appointment. Seems like we tin can get about 2 years out of a cover, and they aren't particularly cheap. Over fourth dimension we've become less and less picky nigh keeping it covered, and so at this point we don't bother. The camper does look similar it's been out in the lord's day, but not actually likewise bad considering it's historic period.

I ready my FWC downwardly on what amounts to a stack of 4x4s - very like to what cnynrat does. All the weight is on the wood, none on the jacks.

I also don't cover mine - just it does get a couple of coats of Solar-tek roof blanket when it starts getting thin.

Where are you lot? The storage program is vastly different from Phoenix to Seattle to Telluride!

Every bit for stands, I like a ready of folding aluminum saw horses like drywallers apply. They are strong, won't rot, and are easy to shop when the camper is on the truck. I likewise accept mine with me when traveling on longer trips with the camper. They lay flat on the roof, and I can take the camper off to practise some exploring at places where we stay for more a few days.

I store mine (Large Foot 2500) on the iv jacks and have done information technology for over 6 years at present. Just wonder why others don't practice the same ? Seems to work fine for me.

Where I live nosotros get 8' or more of snow, and as well that, campers are built to sit on the flooring. Leaving them on the jacks solitary puts all the weight on the few bolts in each corner. Information technology is fine for brusque term, but I don't know of anyone other than you who leaves them on the jacks lone full time. I'm certain others do, but I've never seen it.

We have been somehow living on/off in our Bigfoot for the concluding half dozen months while we are fixing upward our house in Truckee. I tin't believe information technology'due south been that long already...but we are finally getting closer to move in the business firm...that's another story..

Our camper is too on the four jacks sometimes but I read it's not the best practice. And so when I don't use the pickup, I left the camper to residual on the bed. The manual does say that you are supposed to put some blocks/piece of forest under it when in storage - not sure exactly why.

The simply problem and so far is the snow falling off the tree which broke 1 of the (new) plastic glass on the roof. A $20 replacement.

Since it's been that long, I am going to continue it until at least Overland Expo, and drive it down in that location over again this twelvemonth!

I but bought an '07 Charlatan 10T. It is a fairly heavy fully kitted out 10' rig. While I was measuring for tie downs etc the other day, (information technology is nevertheless at service dept getting an canopy etc), the main service guy was confirming what we have been proverb. NEVER get out your camper just on the jacks when it is off the truck. At minimum, a couple of saw horses with 2x6s on top running the length of the floor are recommended. The jacks are only to loft it for installation and removal from the truck.

I know some people practice leave them on the jacks fulltime, and it is your camper, practice as you similar. However information technology is apparently non a skillful idea.
